The climate change may have caused a huge increase in algae (specifically Oscillatoria rubescens) in The Nile River, Egypt’s main resource. This is a fairly common occurrence that has caused massive freaking out in many countries at many times. One cause is an algae called Oscillatoria rubescens (or Burgundy Blood). This starts to suck all of the oxygen out of the water and also causes skin irritations in humans that come in contact with it (Boils, plague 6). A drought was already affecting Egypt (verified by numerous methods) and the low water would enable the over abundance of the algae. When the water is not so much water anymore and algae soup you get...
The algae in the river could have sped up the transformation of all the tadpoles into frogs. Because that river water was toxic, the frogs needed to leave the water quickly.A large amount of dying frogs would mean there are less predators to eat pests, which led to a new large population of gnats and flies.
the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
A destructive hailstorm laid waste to crops and killed thousands of animals and people. Natural explanation? Destructive hailstorms are uncommon in Northern Africa, but have been known to occur there.
And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
Millions of locusts covered the landscape. Natural explanation? Locust swarms are a common occurrence in the region, especially after heavy rainy seasons.
The LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.
There was a tradition in Egypt that the first born son would receive greater amounts of rations in emergencies. With a drought, insects eating crops, livestock dying and all the other stuff going on, the Egyptians would have been down to their emergency supplies of grain. The bottom of the stores would be the oldest and also contain the most fungi. They literally poisoned their first borns by giving them extra portions of contaminated food.I saw someone post how the 10 plagues were made up to ridicule the Egyptian gods but I had heard a version where Science feasibly explained every one with out magic and thought I would share.
